Slight hassle-factor, but I'm optimistic so far. So within 1 week, I should get a replacement unit for free, and will ship the busted one back. They quickly agreed to send me a new unit for $25 shipping.and all I said in reply was "Ouch.that stinks".and he immediately waived the shipping charge. So I did via chat, and they promptly ran through some troubleshooting (which I already did on my own).which of course didn't help. I contacted Meh.who I knew going in would not be helpful (no, some offense), and got the proverbial "not our ntact Neato". I'd have to do several manipulations (holding down the power button, unplugging the batteries, resetting the battery status (to new battery selection on the unit's menu). Apparently, the way the battery connects to the unit (with those plastic plugs with wire "tubes" and pins) is severely prone to faltering.
I got the dreaded battery error 0002 - goggled it and found out it's fairly common. Amazing! After it was done, it actually found its way back to the charger.
